The Beekeeper is a stunning mountainside resort-style centre, situated in our own botanical gardens, with 5-star facilities. This carefully crafted environment creates a space for us to facilitate effective individual therapy, using an interdisciplinary approach, as well as group work and psychoeducational classes. We also have daily yoga classes, an art studio, personal trainers and physiotherapists on hand, in addition to our medical team.
Our combined decades of experience have taught us that everyone’s journey with us is unique and needs to be respected and understood. Our clinical team will assess your specific needs through an in-depth assessment, including physical, medical, mental and personal, to develop a treatment approach. As this unfolds, we will work with you to adjust it accordingly to ensure it’s effective and enable you to achieve the best outcome.
When drinking becomes dependent and starts impacting different aspects of life, it’s time to seek out help. Behavioural and psychotherapies can be very helpful for understanding triggers and underlying motivators for drinking. When coming to The Beekeeper, and after your assessment, you will begin your journey with us. Our approach is integrative in nature; some of these include 12-step programmes, group therapy, motivation enhancement therapy, CBT, or a combination of programmes. You will be able to participate in all of these at The Beekeeper, as well as other adjunct approaches such as mindfulness and psychoeducational programmes. At The Beekeeper, you will have regular individual bi-weekly therapy sessions and access to our whole range of facilities including personal training, pool, regular excursions, art therapy, daily yoga and mindfulness practices, and our recreation room with a library, TV and pool table.
The Beekeeper House offers a tailored onsite detox programme, offering a Gold Standard for the industry. Once you are given a medical clearance, you will then commence regular individual bi-weekly therapy sessions and access to our whole range of facilities, including personal training, physiotherapy, art therapy, facilitated group work and psychoeducation classes which will cover topics such as relapse prevention.
No single treatment is considered the “most effective” for treating drug addictions, which is why interdisciplinary approaches are so important and are considered to be at the core of The Beekeeper’s signature approach. Medications may be necessary for suppressing withdrawal symptoms and preventing relapse. Behavioural treatments such as family therapy, CBT, and contingency management are important for reducing motivation to seek drugs and promoting abstinence. We ensure that we work with you and your specific needs to tailor our programmes to your needs as they might evolve.
We can help with the following Illicit Drug Addictions:
Among the Prescription Drug Addictions that we can help with are:
Addiction is life-threatening and requires effective treatment by qualified professionals in registered facilities. Recovery is a lifelong process, and The Beekeeper is here to help you lay the foundations of a strong and durable recovery.
Treatment options can vary, with some only requiring outpatient treatment where they receive counselling or therapy services or treatment by a medical practitioner within their community. However, some require more intensive treatment, which is termed in-patient or better known as “rehab”. The Beekeeper offers in-patient treatment for addiction, as well as other mental health issues. These include:
A Detox: this is shortened for medical detoxification and overseen by our Medical Director. This is where we get you medically stable and able to enter our residential programme. Many people only pass through this phase very briefly.
Medications: If the Medical Director prescribes medication for you or you need a Psychiatric evaluation, this will be arranged, and any medications will be overseen by our medical team on site.
Residential: Also known as an in-patient, this is a residential programme where you stay at our centre with 24 hours a day monitoring. You are, however, able to access the wide variety of services available, both psychotherapeutic and recreational, including off-site excursions.
Aftercare: This is a central part of our programme, and we take post-treatment planning very seriously. It is during aftercare that you will learn about and engage with your available local resources, receiving referrals for continued mental health support, 12-step based recovery programmes, group therapy and other sources of support.
You will have access to My Beekeeper, our comprehensive mobile aftercare app created to effectively support our clients and provide additional resources designed around their specific needs. It is during aftercare that you will learn about and engage with your available local resources, receiving referrals for continued mental health support, 12-step based recovery programmes, group therapy and other sources of support.
Behavioural addictions, also referred to as impulse control disorders and process addictions, resemble substance use disorders in many ways and require similar treatment options. CBT, 12-step self-help programmes, motivational enhancement, and motivational interviewing techniques are commonly used, as well as other therapeutic approaches depending on the client’s needs. These techniques have been used successfully for several behavioural addictions, including gambling, compulsive buying, and sex addiction. The clinical team at The Beekeeper are well versed in how to help clients address these issues through our integrative approach.
We can help with the following Behavioural Addictions but are not limited to:
Behavioural addictions or process addictions can have a profound impact on a person’s life and more than often require professional support and care in order to begin the process of unpacking their often devastating impact on a person’s life.
Process addiction can wreak havoc, causing both psychological and social issues. The most effective methods for treating internet addiction involve an interdisciplinary approach. This includes therapies focused on committing to changing behaviours, such as motivational interviewing, as well as family therapy and individualised approaches to counselling. Medication may be necessary for treating any underlying mental health issues contributing to the addiction.
Other co-occurring disorders in addiction treatment
There are several comorbidities and conditions that can underlie addiction disorders. In some cases, medication management is necessary for reducing symptom severity. Therapy programmes such as motivational interviewing, contingency management, and psychotherapy have proven most effective for co-occurring disorders. Mindfulness-based programmes also show great promise for helping to treat symptoms.
Co-occurring disorders are fairly common in the treatment of addiction, and those working with the patients must have clinical diagnostic skills, which we do at The Beekeeper. We are then better able to develop comprehensive treatment plans for the clients taking into consideration their particular needs.
Detox is undertaken on-site at The Beekeeper House, ensuring a personalised treatment and approach tailored to your needs by your own dedicated inhouse care team.
This is at the core of The Beekeeper House; we have created a beautiful environment and comprehensive programme to enable all of our clients to recover in privacy and comfort.
We know your aftercare programme and plan will provide you with critical support for a sustainable recovery; we place great emphasis on the importance of this in our approach.
