Being dependent on substances in order to simply exist in life can be deeply draining both emotionally and physically, and this is where we can help you. If you are looking to take that first and important step into your long term recovery we can offer you the region’s leading detox programme in a compassionate and supportive environment that will make the process as comfortable as possible. This is all done with 24 hour medical supervision, and each programme of detox is developed around your specific needs.
Our leading programme of detox is bespoke, and built around your needs. You will be assessed by our medical director who will co-design a programme that meets your specific needs. It will then be overseen by our fully licensed medical team, who are extremely experienced in this area. We ensure the detox is as comfortable as possible for you, so we not only combine high quality medical care, but we also offer intense support for you both emotionally and physically during this process.
We are unique in that we offer one-to-one sessions with our physical wellness and holistic team, as well some group work, to help minimise any discomfort you might feel during the process, as well as adapting the programme depending on how you are physically responding it. Detox is a gradual process that differs for each person. We tailor our approach accordingly to ensure your needs are met comprehensively and compassionately.
Detoxing off alcohol, especially if you have been drinking for an extended period of time often requires specialist support. Over time your body becomes physically dependent on alcohol and when you suddenly stop this can create some unpleasant side effects that can range significantly in severity. The most common ones are intense craving, mood swings, anxiety and irritability. This can make a relapse more likely as the symptoms can be very uncomfortable.
If a person has been drinking very heavily for a sustained period of time then symptoms can be more serious such as tremors and even seizures which can be very dangerous, and even fatal. This is why it is so important to get the right medical assessment and support before you begin the process of detox.
Your detox needs can be determined by our expert in-house team and will guide you through the process during our initial assessment. During this process we will provide you a supportive and non-judgemental space in order for us to be able to advise you and guide you through the process and what you can expect.
We take into consideration a number of factors during this assessment phase, these include how long you have been drinking, the quantities, as well as any existing medical issues or other mental health issues that you might be experiencing. We also take into account any history of medical detoxing that you might have as well.
When you come to us we will conduct an in-depth and thorough assessment of your needs, which will include a full medical assessment to ensure we haven’t missed anything important. If you require a medically assisted detox we will work closely with you on what that will look like so you are empowered and understand what to expect. The initial phase of the detox is where we stabilise you, and make you as comfortable as possible.
Even during a medically supervised detox there can be some uncomfortable side effects which will be monitored by our medical team 24 hours a day, and we will work closely with you on how to minimise these side effects. Our team is extremely experienced and will be with you every step of the way.

Our teams work closely with each other to ensure you receive seamless care that is compassionate and rooted in your specific needs.
We will ensure you feel cared for and heard during the process, and that we are invested in you achieving long term success as you begin to build the foundations of your recovery.
With all detox plans we place client wellbeing and safety at the centre of what we do. Often individuals will try and come off certain substances by themselves, which can be a risky process depending on what substances you have been taking and for how long. That’s why it is important to get expert advice and support during this process.
Evidence shows that when people detox themselves, without the appropriate support, they are more likely to relapse as withdrawal symptoms can be so uncomfortable, or in some cases dangerous, and they end up using the substance in order to alleviate this discomfort.
When detoxing off certain drugs, such as benzodiazepines, painkillers, methadone or other opioids, it is important to understand that your body has developed a physical dependence on them as well as a tolerance. Drug detoxes bring with them significant risks that need to be assessed fully before they are undertaken and then the process should be overseen by medical professionals.
We are able to do this at The Beekeeper, and will provide you with expert guidance and support in developing a detox plan that is built around your unique needs.
Upon arrival, our medical director will undertake a full assessment with you to determine your exact medical requirements and ensure we develop a detox plan that is inline with your needs. During this process we determine your level of chemical dependency through testing and will also take into consideration other factors such as any emotional, mental health or behavioural presentations that need to be factored into your bespoke detox plan.
We do this with you, so you’re aware of what is going on. Our team will be on hand to answer any questions you might have at this critical stage. Our aim is to make the process as medically safe as possible, whilst also taking into consideration your personal comfort as well.
In the initial phase of detox there may well be some discomfort, which we will seek to minimise with the care and support of our highly experienced team. We are experts in managing the uncomfortable side effects of detoxing and will adapt a detox plan accordingly, all of which is done by our in-house medical team. The First Step:
The most important step is often the hardest, and it is often the most important decision you will make in your life. The first step is to get into contact with our team and arrange an initial consultation with us. During this consultation we will work with you on what your needs are and how we best support you through the process of getting treatment.
We will offer confidential and expert advice and guide you through the process step by step. You will also have the opportunity to speak to one of our clinical psychologists as well, so you know you’re getting expert advice from the outset.
The Next Step:
Once you have decided you would like to go ahead with treatment we will undertake a pre-admissions assessment with you. This is a more in-depth assessment we undertake to ensure we fully understand your needs and we can then begin to make the appropriate plans for your treatment. Everyone is different, so this assessment is the beginning of our team of professionals developing the foundations of your bespoke treatment plan.
Normally this will be done over a video or phone call, and it might be one of a number of calls we have with you. We are always happy to have additional calls with clients as they prepare to come to us, so we can begin building a relationship of trust and you know that we fully understand your needs, and we are also able to answer any questions that might arise.
Your Stay
We help you plan your stay with us meticulously. We are happy to support you in booking flights, visa advice, and travel logistics as we have done with so many clients in the past. We can make navigating the process easier. We have a rolling admissions process, which means you’re able to join the programme on a day that suits you. Most clients will need to stay with us for a minimum of 30 days, some choose to stay longer, and we can discuss this with you during the consultation phase.
A lot will depend on your own personal circumstances, including things such as personal or work commitments. As a general rule of thumb the longer the stay the better as it gives us time to help you detox safely and effectively, and begin the important work of building the foundations of your long-term successful recovery during our residential programme.
We accept referrals from GP's, psychiatrists, psychologists, counsellors, case managers, and other health professionals. To refer your clients or patients, please get in touch by sending us an email, giving us a call or filling out our online contact form.
