We know that there are many variables to consider when looking at treatment abroad. We have added a list of common questions we receive below to hopefully answer some of your queries or concerns.
If you have more questions we did not cover below, do not hesitate to contact us for more information.
Common questions our guests ask about packing for treatment.
Yes, it is recommended 1000 – 3000 baht in cash a week for excursions as well as any other additional non-included services you would like to partake in. You will also have the opportunity to go grocery shopping weekly.
Please be mindful that for the safety of all our clients we do perform bag searches on arrival.
Trafficking drugs into Thailand carries severe consequences, including harsh legal penalties such as long prison sentences and heavy fines. The Thai government enforces strict anti-drug laws, and those caught smuggling drugs face intense scrutiny and little leniency, making the risks extremely high for anyone involved in such activities.
Common questions our guests ask about travelling to Thailand for treatment.
The Beekeeper is located in the mountains of Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand.
Before you fly into Chiang Mai, our admissions team will fully brief you on the paperwork required for your arrival, including visas. There has been a lot of change in recent times to entry requirements, and our team will always have the latest information.
Many nations qualify for a visa on arrival and do not require you to obtain a visa in advance for a stay of up to 30 days in Thailand. However, if your passport is not eligible for a visa on arrival, you will need to apply for a visa prior to your departure to Thailand.
Our admissions team are able to help you check your specific requirements based on your nationality and can assist you in processing the necessary visa. Additionally, if you choose to extend your stay with us beyond 90 days, our in-house team will facilitate the visa extension process. Please be aware that there may be a visa fee associated with an extension application.
Yes, two of our friendly support team members will be waiting for you at the airport exit terminal.
Common questions about payment and the admission process for treatment.
Our centre falls into the mid to upper range of treatment options in the region. For more detailed information on our costs, please contact us directly.
Yes, we are happy to work with insurance companies. Our admissions team will be able to advise and support you during this process. We will also advise you on the process of how to access your super for Australian clients as well if you are eligible.
We will guide you through the process of coming to Thailand with our admissions team on hand to help you, and anyone else who might be supporting you. The process involves a preliminary assessment, followed by an agreement that you will come to the Beekeeper House. The logistics of your travel will be your responsibility, but we will be on hand to advise and help you every step of the way. When you come to Chiang Mai you will be met by our team, who will collect you from the airport. Our team on-site will then conduct a medical evaluation, including a drugs and alcohol test, and a deeper assessment of your needs with respect to treatment.
To secure your booking a non-refundable deposit of 25% must be made to secure your booking.
The balance must be paid in full prior to arrival.
If a client voluntarily leaves the program within the first week, they may receive credit for unused treatment days. However, this refund is void if the client is administratively discharged due to violating treatment policies (e.g., relapse, leaving the facility grounds). After the first week of treatment, refunds are not available unless a serious medical emergency requires the client to discontinue treatment early (voluntary discharge), subject to approval by the Clinical Director or CEO. Please note that the deposit will almost always be non-refundable, except in exceptional circumstances.
The weather is tropical, warm and can also be humid, with some cooler nights in December through to February. Given the location of our centre, it gets a little colder than most of Chiang Mai so you should pack for cooler evenings as well as hot days. Whereas it is important to dress for the climate, it is also important to dress for the slightly more conservative culture in Thailand, when you are outside of the centre. For instance, when visiting Temples your shoulders and knees should be covered.

During the preliminary assessment you will be able to ask detailed questions about our services and anything else you feel you might wish to ask us, and we will also be able to assess your specific treatment needs. This discovery call is free. In the unlikely event that we collectively don’t feel we are best placed to help you, we will make a referral wherever possible.
Thailand is a beautiful place to be, and conducive to the healing process. Chiang Mai in particular has a lovely climate, and also has the advantage of having a large recovery community. There is access to world class medical facilities nearby and a great local workforce, and lots to do in the area. We are able to provide a quality service for less than you would pay in the US, Europe, New Zealand and Australia as the cost of doing business is lower and we are able to pass these savings onto our clients without sacrificing quality.
Essentially, yes. However, for you to be able to focus on your treatment, we advise against visitors in the first weeks. This helps you focus on yourself and dive into your treatment programme in the early stages. After the first two weeks, you will have the opportunity to speak with your psychologist about receiving visitors.
As you will be under our care for the duration of your treatment you will therefore be our responsibility and it would only be in exceptional circumstances that this would be permitted.

Our facilities include an on-site gym equipped with modern equipment, dedicated yoga and martial arts areas, a swimming pool and extensive grounds for walking. Frequently asked questions about our programme at The Beekeeper House.
Mindfulness, yoga and meditation have some of the strongest research support for effectiveness among alternative and holistic treatments. One meta-analysis indicated that mindfulness practices decreased cravings and increased abstinence rates for substance use at a rate equivalent to numerous evidence-based practices. We combine these approaches with clinical psychology and contemporary medicine to produce powerful outcomes for individuals.
Traditionally, people think of therapy or counselling as addressing only the mind — through analysing thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
Holistic Wellness Therapy takes not only your mind but your body and spirit into account as well. At The Beekeeper House, our psychologists and support staff help address thoughts and emotions while also considering any physical or spiritual barriers you may have.
Holistic therapy can help you connect with yourself in ways you haven’t before. It can help you learn more about yourself by identifying your inner strengths and resources. With this newfound information, you can begin to understand the underlying causes of your mental health conditions. Your psychologist will support you in developing new ways of managing and coping with these conditions, behaviours, or addictions.
This integrative approach looks to provide balance and help people feel more in control of their lives. Different holistic approaches are used to help address addiction, behavioural problems, and mental health conditions. There are several types of holistic wellness therapies, including massage, meditation and mindfulness, yoga, tai chi, sound baths, breath work, guided imagery, and acupuncture.
The most important part of holistic therapy is finding the right combination of techniques that address your specific needs.

Holistic health addresses several areas of your health to ensure they are being supported. While some medicine practices focus only on your physical or mental health separately, holistic health addresses all of them at the same time, giving you the best chance at healing and recovery.
